Complex Network for Modern Smart Grid Applications (Part 1: Analysis and Application)
JETCAS Volume 7, Issue 2, June 2017

Dear IEEE JETCAS Readers,

The IEEE Journal on Emerging and Selected Topics in Circuits and Systems (JETCAS) proudly published its June 2017 issue to present recent technical advances in complex network for smart grid applications. This special issue contains 25 papers from many excellent submissions and is divided into two parts. Part 1 contains a survey paper and 13 papers on two themes: 1) cascading failure analysis based on complex network theory, and 2) applications of complex systems to design advanced architectures, control strategies, and energy management for power system. Part 2 contains 11 papers on a single theme: power system stability, reliability, and resilience analysis.

Part 1 starts with a survey paper that aims to provide the reader with a review of studying complex network theory for modern smart grid applications. Then it includes papers contributed by experts on the topics of cascading failure and blackouts in power systems. Afterwards, there are contributions on advanced design architectures, control strategies, and energy management for the modern smart grid.

All papers on this issue are at the forefront of this fast-growing field to address rising challenges. We hope you enjoy the contents of this special issue.

Best Regards,
