Dear IEEE JETCAS Readers,

The IEEE Journal on Emerging and Selected Topics in Circuits and Systems (JETCAS) proudly published its September 2017 issue to present recent technical advances in complex networks for smart grid applications. This and the last special issues contain 25 papers from many excellent submissions and is divided into two parts. Part 1 contains a survey paper and 13 papers on two themes: 1) cascading failure analysis based on complex network theory, and 2) applications of complex systems to design advanced architectures, control strategies, and energy management for power system. Part 2 contains 11 papers on a single theme: power system stability, reliability, and resilience analysis.
Part 2 includes papers contributed by experts on the topics of power grid stability, distributed power control in power system, analysis of dynamical robustness to noise in power grid, frequency control and economic dispatch in smart grid, etc.
All papers in this issue are at the forefront of this fast-growing field to address rising challenges. We hope you enjoy the contents of this special issue.

Best Regards,
